Many have asked if I am scared to make such a move. Well, the fact that I just googled directions from Dallas, TX (where I hail) to London, UK and it could not be computed doesn't freak me out the least bit. Does not compute!! I honestly have no idea how many miles or kilometers will be separating me from all of my loved ones and everything that I find comforting in this world, but perhaps it's better not to talk numbers right now. Baby steps. Baby steps on to the plane, my dears.
Many have also asked me if I will be flying economy or coach on my flight over. Well, either way, if we are talking about size I have bigger problems to deal with.....like how I'm going to move my belongings across an ocean and how all of my Texas sized things are going to fit into a modest London flat.
Luckily, my company is providing assitance in the shipment, but I was left with the task of figuring out WHAT to bring. Have you ever packed for two years of your life? And have you ever had to PORTION CONTROL your life? Some how I picked what I wanted to bring, most of which consisted of things that I knew would fit in a UK flat. I put them all in my closet so that the packers would know what to ship.
Maybe I'm the only one who finds this very scary. But, these are my "personal effects." The tools that I will use to start a life and build a home in London.
Portion controlling my life also meant that I would have to give up some of the comforts of Texas. One thing I will dearly miss is my bed.
Seeing this picture definitely makes me want to cry. I just want to crawl in!! Too bad it is in storage with all of my other belongings, packed in boxes and collecting dust.
I will also miss my Texas sized bathroom. I'm really going to have to show this picture to some of those Londoners! If any of ya'll see me in the future looking kind of crappy, you will know it's because of the lack of counter space I will have in London to lay out all of my Chanel makeup!
Alas, I was left with an empty bedroom. The size of which will probably be my new abode on the other side of the Pond.
Stay tuned..... and cheers!
